SHOE boxes filled with donated items destined for Afgahnistan were delivered to a Watford garage by Year 10 students of a Garston secondary school.
Year 10 pupils of Parmiters School - Abigail Morrish, Elizabeth Cummings, Robynne Keene, Sian Huggins and Esme Mroz-Davies- delivered 26 boxes ladened with cuddly toys, toiletries, clothes and educational material to the staff at Kwikfit in St Albans Road, which is currently acting as a collection point for the GMTV shoebox appeal.
The GMTV shoebox appeal, launched earlier this month, is designed to encourage individuals nationwide to donate small items for the children and families affected and living in war-torn areas of Afgahnistan.
The school in High Elms Lane, Garston first became involved in the appeal following the interest of two of its parents earlier this year.
Participating pupil, Esme Mroz-Davies said: "It's Christmas time and yet these people are suffering through a war and we just felt we wanted to do something to make them feel a little happier."
Fellow pupil, Sian Huggins, said: "Some of these people have got nothing. It really is the least we can do to help."
