Dartford's FA Cup replay win over Croydon Athletic has set up a mouth-watering tie in the 3rd Qualifying Round against Gravesend and Northfleet, with whom they groundshare, at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

The Darts will be at “home” but the landlords versus tenants tie is eagerly-awaited by manager Gary Julian. He said: “The Gravesend fans reckon their team is better away from home!

“But they are the favourites, so the pressure will be on them.”

Julian added: “We played very well against Croydon and I've never seen our finance director smiling so much!

“It was a very important game for us. We made a good start but it was a poor goal to give away for their equaliser.”

The Darts made the best possible start when Luke Morrish's powerfully-hit shot from the left touchline found the far corner of the Croydon net with barely a minute gone.

Although Croydon equalised after 19 minutes from Simon Liddle's back-post header, Guiver restored the Darts' lead 10 mints before the break when he chipped the goalkeeper from 25 yards.

Guiver also played a big part in Dartford's third goal, five minutes after the interval, when his superb cross found Roy Godden, who tapped the ball into the net with the help of a deflection.

Godden then emulated Guiver by chipping in put the Darts 4-1 after 65 minutes, before a last-minute penalty made it 4-2.

Meanwhile, the Darts got back to basics on Saturday morning when they entertained Ashford Town in the Dr Martens Eastern Division and took all three points.

Dartford almost scored after 17 minutes, when Tom Adlington's left-footed shot rebounded back off the woodwork. But they were on target after 40 minutes when Simon Roberts' ball through found Roy Godden, who coolly slipped his shot beyond John Whitehouse.

Dartford went two-up on 44 minutes when Chris Arnold beat the offside trap and slotted his shot under Whitehouse from 12 yards.

Dartford increased their lead when Kevin Spriggs' free-kick found Lee Jones, who found the net with a low shot from 22 yards.

Ashford's only reply was a late goal from sub John Nolan, who curled a low shot past Kessell from the edge of the penalty area.

Julian added: “If we are more consistent, it will not be long before we start moving the table.”

The Darts played Rugby at home last night as we went to press.
