AN ANCIENT tradition is being continued in the Mayor of Gravesham's 35-mile charity walk.
The annual “Beating the Bounds” walk around Gravesham takes place on October 13 and 14 and is part of a tradition which existed before records were kept.
The “bounds” refer to the ancient boundaries in Gravesham information which has been passed on down through the generations.
Mayor of Gravesham Councillor Valerie Ashenden said: “This is an opportunity to get out and about in the borough, get fresh air and exercise and I invite anyone to join me.”
Walkers or bounders are normally sponsored and the proceeds will go towards the Mayor of Gravesham's charities the National Children's Homes and the Meningitis Trust.
