With the track and field season drawing to its close, Dartford's ladies travelled to Norman Park, Bromley, for the final Women's Southern league match on Saturday.

With many of its younger middle distance runners unavailable, the Dartford team had to settle for third place out of five and faces relegation next season.

The athletes who competed at Bromley fought hard against the odds and produced excellent individual performances.

Junior international Katy Lamb won the senior hammer in fine style with a throw of 51.86m and also the shot with 10.01m.

Other senior wins came from Rhonda Munnick, 800m in 2:26.4 and 400m, 62.4s; Grace Clements high jump 1.55m; Carrie Hague high jump B 1.35m.

Wins in the U13 & U15 age groups came from Jessica Creighton West javelin 19.67m, Tessa Clifford javelin B 17.50m and Becky Saunders discus 27.90m.

Second places in the senior age group were: Anne Goad, long jump B, 4.27m, pole vault B, 2.00m, javelin 26.86m; Sarah Etherton in hammer B, 31.73m; and Grace Clements 400m, hurdles debut, 72.3s, pole vault 2.00m,100m. hurdles 17.1s.

Second places in the U13 & U15 ages: Tessa Clifford high jump 1.40m; Carly Trievnor high jump B 1.30m, 75m hurdles 12.3s; Becky Saunders shot 8.27m, 200m B 29.9s.; Jessica Creighton West 100m, 13.5s 4x100m, 55.2s (Saunders, Trievnor, Clifford, Creighton West).

Arthur Kimber in the M60 age group braved torrential rain on August 26 to win two races at the Vets AC Championships at Kingston. He won the 400m in 69.0s. and the 800m in 2:38.5. He had to settle for the silver in the 1500m, timing 5:27.8.
