LECTURERS at Bromley College went on strike in a protest over pay.
Teaching union the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE) called the one-day strike to protest about the difference in pay between schoolteachers and lecturers.
The union wants lecturers to receive a £3,000 pay rise to bring them in line with the rest of the teaching profession. But members of the union insisted important public examinations were not disrupted by the action.
A NATFHE spokesman said: “In the 31 years I have been with the union, I have never seen such public support for a protest. All lecturers whose students were sitting examinations were permitted to miss the strike, so no examinations were disrupted.”
