A GRAVESEND pub was severely damaged by a fire over the weekend.

The Buffalos Head, in the High Street, was reported to be on fire at around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

Three fire crews raced to the scene from Gravesend and Strood as the fire swept through most of the building.

A height vehicle was also used to stop the blaze, which caused considerable damage to the upstairs accommodation.

It took firefighters four hours to bring the blaze under control. They eventually left the scene at just after 4am on Sunday morning.

Police are investigating whether the blaze, which was believed to have started with a bin fire, is suspicious.
