A bench dedicated to the memory of murdered teenager Danny Wandangu was unveiled by the Mayor David Crowe last week. The 16-year-old footballer, who was due to trial with Aston Villa, was stabbed to death last September during an argument with a 15-year-old boy. The bench, in Betts Park, Penge, was paid for by the manager of Croydon football club, Martin King, who coached Danny at the club. Mr King and his club raised £1,100 from charity events which easily covered the cost of the £300 bench
