FIERCE pirates descended on Oak Lodge Primary School, in West Wickham when young pupils dressed up for a special nautical day. The six and seven-year-olds showed great imagination donning authentic pirate outfits complete with eye patches and scars.
The youngsters had even drawn up their own maps showing remote desert islands laden with treasure hidden away in caves or buried among palm trees. Despite the famous X marking the spot on the treasure maps, headteacher Mike Tottedrell joked that despite the abundance the youngsters were “still looking for all the gold”.
