THE final member of a three-youth gang which terrorised Abbey Wood residents faces an alcohol ban as part of his punishment.

An Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) imposed on 16-year-old Damien Cooper will make him tee-total beyond his 18th birthday.

He appeared at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court on August 16 in connection with crimes he committed with Tony Lovelock, aged 16, and his brother Billy, aged 18, who were served with ASBOs last month.

Cooper, of Penmon Road, will face a string of restrictions on his liberty for the offences, which included joining the Lovelocks in beating up a pizza delivery boy and then obstructing paramedics who rushed to the scene.

Under the ASBO, which lasts three years, he will be banned from:

*Associating with the Lovelock brothers;

*Entering shops on Eynsham Drive;

*Drinking or purchasing alcohol anywhere in Greenwich borough;

*Entering the address of a witness who gave evidence against him;

*Using threatening behaviour against anyone in the borough.

Cooper will be sent to jail if he breaks any of the conditions.

Greenwich's executive member for environment and community safety, Councillor Rajwant Sidhu said: “The council will not tolerate thuggish behaviour which makes the lives of local people a misery.

“Let this order, with its threat of prison, be a warning for anyone who thinks they can disrupt the life of the community.”

The district judge refused an application for a publicity ban following the hearing, explaining it was in the public interest for Cooper's details to be released.
