A TRAGIC accident left an elderly pensioner dead and the 79-year-old driver shaken at a collision in Albemarle Road, Beckenham.
The 87-year-old woman, whose name has not been released by police, was crossing the road near the junction with St George's Road, on April 19, when the red Austin Mini ran into her at 11.40am. The woman was taken by ambulance to Bromley Hospital Accident and Emergency where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was not taken to hospital though police say she was severely shaken.
Sergeant Sarah Drury of the collision investigation unit said: “Albemarle Road is a long road with many large houses on it.
“It is very possible someone was looking out of the window of their flat and saw the collision.”
