WITH regard to recent comments/criticism of the police, especially lately in the Beckenham area, the Bromley Police-Community Consultative Group arranges meetings with the public and senior police officers to discuss all aspects of local policing.

The Divisional Commander outlines his proposals, especially for a greater visible police presence, and explains how he hopes to achieve this, in light of the current recruitment problems.

The local police inspector discusses recent crimes and achievements; informative crime statistics are distributed; and wall charts are displayed, showing crime hot-spot areas. This hardly sounds as though police are “burying their heads in the sand!”. There is always room for improvement and the police need to hear from the public which is what this consultative group is about.

All our meetings are well publicised yet many receive a poor public turn out.

We hold regular road shows across the borough. The next public meeting will be on May 23, at 7.45pm, at the British Red Cross Centre, High Street, Chislehurst.

For more information on venues etc, call 020 8658 7168. Don't just criticise, come along and discuss your concerns. Your views really are important.
