Despite some publicity problems, the Erith Riverside Festival attracted a huge crowd of visitors who enjoyed stalls, sideshows and a dog show as well as the glorious summer weather...
A LAST-minute hitch with programmes and posters did not stop the organisers of this year's Erith Riverside Festival from getting their message across.
They tramped the streets for two weekends, handing out photocopied leaflets to make sure the festival on Sunday was packed out.
The sun shone and thousands of people flocked to Erith's Riverside Gardens for a day of fun and fund-raising. Community groups set up their stalls and sideshows. For the first time this year, the festival also featured a wacky dog show which attracted dozens of late entries.
The luckiest person of the day was show organiser Rosemary White, a lifelong Charlton fan.
She donated a football signed by the whole team, which she had won in a raffle, to a raffle at the show and promptly won it for a second time!
She bowed to the inevitable and the ball will now go to her grandchildren, Louis and Marcus.
This is the last year Mrs White will run the show and the committee is looking for someone to take over to make sure the festival continues next year.
