A crown court jury cleared a man of one count of assault on a Dartford teenager on Thursday.
Andrew Merry, 42, from Boundry Road, Plaistow stood accused of headbutting the youth and hitting him in the face with a bottle during the millennium celebrations on the London Embankment earlier this year.
Although he was cleared of the first charge, Merry will have to wait until next month for a ruling on the second.
The youth told the court Merry panicked and became agitated in the crowd.
He said: It was so busy you couldnt move, dads were holding little children above their heads so they didnt get trampled.
He said Merry started screaming I have got to get away and then suddenly head-butted him before disappearing in the crowd.
He then said the assault with the bottle took place in a side street shortly afterward when he went to look for Merry with a group of friends.
Merry will appear in Southwark Crown Court again on Decembe r 20.
