IT'S an old fashioned clich, but Canterbury's 60-11 win over Gravesend on Saturday really was a game of two halves.

At the break, Canterbury led and nobody at the ground was prepared for what happened in the second 40 minutes.

Canterbury certainly picked up the pace, and scored seven tries, causing one spectator to say they were in a different league to Gravesend.

It was a breathtaking display, and man-of-the-match Steve Aseme scored four tries.

Gravesend never recovered and were handicapped by an injury in the 15th minute to their promising prop forward Jamie Forsythe which is likely to keep him out the rest of the season.

The first-half saw both sides attacking strongly and, after 30 minutes, there was only one point between the teams at

12-11.

Chris Cronin scored a try for Gravesend, which Martin Lees converted as well as kicking two penalties.

Then a mass brawl which

resulted in a player from each side being sin-binned.

Just before half-time, Aseme started his scoring spree, breaking from the base of a scrum and going on a diagonal 30-metre run to touchdown.

Then, just after the interval, Canterbury started their demolition job when winger Tony Rolfe went over in the corner.

But the pick of their tries was Aseme's third, as he sprinted through Gravesend's beleaguered defence.
