A PARTNERSHIP working with communities to combat social exclusion and racism has been short listed for the Community Initiative of the Year award.
The Charlton Athletic Racial Equality (CARE) Partnership is in the running for the award in the Local Government Chronicle Awards for Excellence 2001.
CARE, led jointly by Greenwich Council and Charlton Athletic FC, has developed educational and creative projects designed to promote community unity.
Executive member for social inclusion Councillor Mavis Best said: I am so proud that the CARE initiative has been recognised, among hundreds of entries, for the tremendous work that it is doing to combat racism and create unity here in Greenwich.
Winners will be announced at the Hilton Hotel, in Park Lane, on March 13.
