PRECOCIOUS talent Katharine Baker confirmed her full recovery from injury by captaining Great Britain under 16s to victory over Sweden in an international in Leeds last weekend.
Baker,15, having only returned to full training recently after a spate of injuries last month, adds the triumph to the Junior National Club League Trophy she helped win for her club, Batchwood Tennis Centre, at the beginning of the month.
The Great Britain side, managed by former British number one Sam Smith, drew eight matches apiece, but won by virtue of more sets won on the countback system.
Each player played three singles matches and there were four doubles matches.
Baker, who attends Parmiters School, was ranked number one in a four-girl team, and won her first match against the Swedish number three, but lost to the number one and number two players, both in hard, three-set matches.
In buoyant mood, Baker, ranked 14 in the European Junior rankings, travelled to America on Thursday, November 22, with Claire Ricketts,16, Watford's other exciting prospect, to play in three tournaments.
First up is the Eddie Herr International in Tampa, followed by the Prince Cup, and then the prestigious Orange Bowl, both in Miami.
