EFFECTIVE learning and development skills within the workplace formed the key focus of a conference organised and held by West Herts College's School of Business and Management on Wednesday, May 9.

More than 100 employers from as many as 80 different businesses within the Watford area gathered at the campus in Hempstead Road to meet part-time tutors and discuss ways in which they could maximise prospective and current employees' levels of learning.

The event acted as the prime opportunity for its tutors not not only to raise the profile of the college and its level of expertise within the field of business but flag up the variety of full and part-time courses on offer to local companies.

Representatives from a number of local professional organisations, including the Institute of Legal Executives and the Institute of Credit Management were also on hand to give free advice on training needs and strategic development to those who attended.

Mr Steve Culliford, head of West Herts College's School of Business and Management said: "We are proud of our links with the local business community, which we wish to strengthen with initiatives such as this conference,"

Part-time business courses available at the college include: Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CIMA), ILEX Institute of Legal Executives, Chartered Institute of Marketing; Btec HNC in Business, Diploma in Management Studies, Certificate in Management Studies, Institute of Personnel and Development, Institute of Credit Management.
