A Scottish doctor has been found safe and well almost two weeks after she went missing.
Susannah Ellis, 28, from Edinburgh, was found in Glasgow hours after her parents issued an emotional appeal for her to get in touch. Jim and Carol McLean said their daughter, who had worked as a doctor in Newcastle, had been deeply unhappy and frustrated in recent weeks.
Dr Ellis, who married in 2005 but separated from her husband last October, returned to Edinburgh to be with her parents at their home. She had not been since February 4 when she told friends she planned to go shopping in Edinburgh city centre.
Lothian and Borders Police yesterday said Ms Ellis was traced in the Strathclyde Police force area overnight on Wednesday. It's understood she was taken to hospital for an assessment.
Police said officers had yet to establish the circumstances behind her disappearance. Her father yesterday issued a statement saying: "We are grateful beyond words to the whole team that has successfully concluded the search for Susannah - including the police officers from Strathclyde.
"Obviously we are absolutely delighted and relieved with this outcome and that Susannah is safe and back in Edinburgh."
Strathclyde Police, meanwhile, said inquiries into the disappearance of Iain Nicolson, 21, from Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, and Lorna Vincent, 27, from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, were continuing. Mr Nicolson was reported missing on February 2 and Ms Vincent on January 15.
