Dir: Ian Fitzgibbon
With: Dylan Moran, Keith Allen
A clunky black comedy that relies on the charms of Dylan Moran to see it through. The stand-up with the sleepy delivery plays a
wannabe screenwriter and pal to a similarly unemployed actor living
in a dump in Dublin. While
frantically trying to emulate
Bruce Robinson's Withnail & I, director Ian Fitzgibbon just doesn't have the sharpness required to
pull off this brand of dark farce.
The twists can be seen coming from space, the improv-style dialogue is dull and plodding, and it's difficult to warm to any of the characters, much less care what happens to them.
