Dir: James Marsh
James Marsh's terrific
documentary looks at the daring traverse of the Twin Towers by French performance artist Philippe Petit in 1974. Petit already had a reputation for doing his high wire act on such "beautiful stages" as Notre Dame and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but it was his conquering of the World Trade Center that made him globally famous. Planned with the meticulousness of a bank job, Petit's walk still has the power to astonish. Through talking head interviews, dramatic reconstructions and footage of the time, Marsh does an amazing tale justice.
