Most modern comedies offer a philosophical experience in that they leave you questioning the very point of life. This weird, sometimes wonderful absurdist comedy by Roy Andersson is the real deal. The Swedish writer-director presents a series of unconnected scenes in which characters rail against fate. Meet, among others, the husband with a mania for musical instruments, a fibbing dog and a severely depressed psychiatrist. More misses than hits, but the sheer lunacy is commendable.
