Star rating: **
Dir: Roger Donaldson
With: Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows, David Suchet

Based on a true story, this rough and ready, Seventies-set crime drama has Jason Statham (Lock, Stock , The Italian Job) once again assuming geezer status as a minor criminal given the chance to pull off the ultimate robbery. The script, by TV legends Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, has a tasty bit of everything - royal scandal, corruption, sex, class war - and Roger Donaldson (Thirteen Days, No Way Out) keeps the show barrelling along like an episode of The Sweeney. The dedication to the Seventies vibe occasionally goes overboard, with clunky dialogue and an overripe score.
