That LibDem leadership contenders Nick Clegg and Chris Huhne managed to debate their policies for an hour on Question Time without once mentioning the European Union or the new treaty surely tells us all we need to know about their credibility and political honesty.
That no-one in the audience did so, either, can only raise doubts about how they and their questions were selected by the BBC.

Ross Finnie, MSP, has decided to support Chris Huhne to become leader of the Liberal Democratic Party for two reasons.(Letters November 16).
First, he can articulate well.
Secondly, he can lead.
Lastly, he can grasp the need for sustainable development.
Here, at last, is proof there are only three types of MSP: those who can count and those who can't.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
