Friday September 1

  • Long Life and Nederlands Dans Theatre, International Festival. Long Life is a play without words from Latvia. The Nederlands Dans Theatre completes this double bill.
  • The Really Terrible Orchestra. Conceived by Alexander McCall Smith and delivered by some truly awful musicians at Canongate Kirk. In aid of good causes.

Wednesday August 30

  • Albert Watson: Frozen. The first exhibition in Scotland by the Edinburgh-born, internationally-renowned photographer.
  • Three Sisters, International Festival. American Repertory Theatre brings a fresh vision to Chekhov’s heart-breaking play.
  • The Death Of Arthur, Fringe. The mystery, passion and betrayal of Arthur, stripped to Celtic bone, by Theatre Alba.
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream, Fringe. Shakespeare's masterpiece performed in the enigmatic setting of Rosslyn Chapel.

Tuesday August 29

  • Fringe Soundbites. On the last day of the Fringe, The Herald asks festival-goers for their highlights.
  • Liza Campbell, Book Festival. The daughter of the late Thane of Cawdor tells her extraordinary real life story.
  • Moscow State Circus. Russia's greatest and most flexible circus performers in The Meadows Big Top.
  • Powder Rooms, Edinburgh Fringe. Late night burlesque show.

Monday August 28

  • Sean Connery - arriving at the Film Festival to be presented with his Bafta Scotland award.
  • Al Gore, at the Book Festival talks about his film, "Global warming: An Incovenient Truth"
  • Driving Lessons, Film Festival. Directorial debut from Jeremy Brock, screenwriter of Mrs Brown and Charlotte Gray.
  • The Eddies - The winners receive their awards.
  • Balanchine's Don Quixote, Ballet, International Festival. Full scale ballet, never before performed in the UK.

Friday August 25

  • Africa's Heartbeat. Uplifting, beautiful music from the African Children's Choir.
  • IF Comeddies nominations the Festival’s leading comedy gongs. Previous winners include Steve Coogan, Frank Skinner and Lee Evans.
  • Paul Rusesabagina, talks about his single-handed work to save the lives of thousands during the Rwandan genocide.
  • An Asylum on Every Corner. Fringe musical set in a care home, where the medics are as neurotic as the patients.
  • The Wilders. Kansas hillbilly and bluegrass band which has just won a Herald Angel for its performances.

Thursday August 24

  • Actor Charley Boorman talks about "Race to Dakar” the book of his latest motorcycle adventure.
  • The Irish Curse. Bittersweet new Fringe comedy explores how society defines masculinity.
  • The Space Cowboy. Fringe interview with the official World Champion of street performers.
  • Ladyboys of Bangkok. The notorious Fringe cabaret is back with new songs, dances and comedy.

Wednesday August 23
