KPMG Scotland has opened a new office in Glasgow and is hiring up to 60 new staff after winning a major contract to handle the personal income tax business of one of the UK's leading financial institutions. The contract follows two years of negotiations with a client which KPMG declines to name for commercial reasons, during which the international accountancy group saw off four other bidders. Craig Anderson, right, senior partner in Scotland, said: "The client's inhouse personal tax service was in decline. But we persuaded them we were the ones to turn it around. Our aim with the new office is to create a centre of excellence serving private clients' tax needs, and we are hopeful that early next year we will be announcing another contract, with a major High Street name, to offer their customers a high quality personal tax service.
