TALENTED and conscientious students at Stewards School were commended for their hard work at the annual presentation evening.

Over 80 pupils received their prizes from Paul Lincoln, the director of learning services for Essex Education Authority.

Among those being commended was Nedzmija Krkic (pictured), who received the Governors second prize award.

Nedzmija joined Stewards from Bosnia three years ago and has settled into the school very successfully, achieving a high level of academic success. She has already gained an A*grade for her German GCSE in Year 10.

First prize in the Governors Awards went to Emma Pead for her personal achievement in overcoming her learning disabilities.

Other school award winners were four ex-students Jamie McDermott, Glen Turner, Andrew Millard and Nikki Allen who achieved a total of 38 GCSE passes between them.

Special prizes were awarded to the Stewards Senior Polymath team and the Year 11 students who ran the Midbank.
