Ousted Labour councillors Richard Course and Pat Cunneen are to contest the local elections as non-political candidates.
The pair, both deselected as Labour candidates, announced their intention to stand in the Arnos ward this week.
Former Enfield Mayor Cllr Cunneen said: Richard and I are not doing this because we have been badly treated in any way. We are just disappointed in the way New Labour is performing both nationally and locally.
Cllr Cunneen was deselected as the Labour candidate for the Bullsmoor ward last year after a meeting of local party members. The outspoken Cllr Course was ordered to stand down as an Arnos ward candidate in February.
Both have now been expelled from the Labour party but will keep their current status as councillors until May 7.
