As the warm weather hit last weekend, safety advice was given to Hertfordshire DIY enthusiasts by British Gas.
The energy and home services firm said every summer there were reports of electrocutions, due to electrical tools being used outdoors to do building work, power drilling and hedge trimming.
The advice includes: checking electrical tools for damaged leads and loose wiring; always using a circuit-breaker to protect against electric shock; never using electrical tools with wet hands; unplugging tools before adjusting or checking them and do not tackle too many jobs at once.
