People are due to start moving into 24 new homes in the centre of Radlett in the summer.

Prowting Homes expects the first homes at the Watling Mansions development, in Watling Street, to be finished in July or August.

Planning issues, which Ruislip-based Prowting had to sort out with Hertsmere Borough Council, meant building work on the development has been delayed.

But marketing manager for Prowting's central region, Vicki Noon, said last weekfri: "Now we are starting to make real progress with the building." The development comprises 21 flats, with two to three bedrooms, and three houses, with three to four bedrooms.

The homes are in a red-brick development, set around landscaped gardens, and the houses, two of which are semi-detached and one detached, have their own gardens.

The flats are priced at £310,000 to £540,000, and the detached house is £557,000.

Ms Noon said the homes were luxury, and added: "The prices are in keeping with the area."

She was confident that all the homes would sell, six flats have already been sold, and that the development would enhance the area, as the site was formerly a petrol station.

She said the homes came with fully-fitted kitchens, underground car parking, lifts, central heating under the floors and entry-phone systems.
