WOMEN in Bromley are not surprised the borough's “arrogant and pig-headed” single males outnumber single females nearly two to one.

A UK-wide survey by BT found Bromley had the third highest ratio of single men to single women with 1.69 to every single woman. It was only behind Lerwick, in Shetland, with two to one, and Guildford, Surrey, with 1.74 to one.

The figures show Bromley women are dating more than one male at a time or dating men outside the borough as there is an equal number of each sex as a whole.

Single Louise Martin, 26, of Havelock Road, Bromley, said: “Bromley men are self-centred, arrogant and pig headed. They are too laddish. I'm not surprised so many of them are single. I certainly don't expect to find a good man in Bromley.”

Barmaid Rachel Giddens, 25, of Southborough Lane, Bromley, said: “Men in Bromley have no idea how to treat women. Some of the chat up lines are awful.”

“I wouldn't be surprised if women are looking for men elsewhere.”

But estate agent James Philips, 28, of Birchwood Road, Petts Wood, thought that was a bit harsh.

“There is a lot of front in Bromley men but the women aren't exactly deep themselves. I am faithful and sensitive to my girlfriend's needs who I have been going out with for more than a year.”

Men who find the competition in Bromley too tough should head for Llandrindod Wells, Powys, in Wales where single women outnumber men four to one.
