A PLUMSTEAD doctor is being investigated by the General Medical Council (GMC) amid accusations he misprescribed heroin substitute methadone and date-rape drug Rohypnol.
It has been revealed Dr Sisir Ghosh, who practises at the Plumstead Medical Centre in Sandy Hill Road, has been the subject of a number of complaints, leading the Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich Health Authority to pass a dossier over to the GMC for further investigation.
One reporter who visited the practice managed to walk away with seven Rohypnol tablets, a two-week supply of methadone, and post-dated prescriptions after a 12 minute examination and handing over £90 cash.
The news comes following concern over the number of deaths from methadone overdoses which has almost doubled in four years.
Dr Ghosh, who has been registered with the GMC for 27 years, was unavailable for comment on the investigation into his prescribing.
A GMC spokesman stated: “We are yet to decide what, if any, action should be taken”.
He would not confirm the specific allegations against the doctor made in the dossier.
