RACE-starter Peter Field would have had every right to answer "I havent the foggiest," if you had asked him what was happening in last weeks floodlit athletics meeting in Central Park, Dartford.
In freezing temperatures and dense fog, Mr Field ended up tying a torch to his wrist so he could be seen by officials on the finishing line.
But the weather for the third Puma-sponsored Dartford Harriers meeting did not worry
Rebecca Saunders, who won a pair of trainers for her fine performance in the under-15 girls' 200 metres race with a time of 30.9secs.
Other excellent displays came from Andrew Webster, who won the under-15 boys' 200m race in 26.2secs, Mark Gardiner for the same distance in the under-17 boys with 25.6secs, and Sarah Williams, who ran 31.3secs in the under-17s girls' event.
Ian Henderson won the under-20s mens' race in 25.80 secs, while Dennis Thacker came home first in the veteran mens' race over the same distance in 29.2secs. He also won the 1,500m in 5mins 43secs.
Several members of the Harriers represented their schools in the Kent Schools Champion-ships at Hythe on Saturday.
Tom Fahey added another win to his impressive record when he took the intermediate boys 6.2-kilometre race.
Jo Roberts continues in fine form, and she came home fifth in the junior girls' 3.4kms, while Sophie Cowdrey finished 12th and helped Bexley Schools to win the team gold. Stephen Munn was an excellent second in the junior boys' 5kms.
