FRUSTRATED train passengers in St Albans who complain they are not listened to have had their prayers answered this week.

In response to customer requests, Thameslink has announced changes in its new winter schedule, starting on Sunday, September 30.

More off-peak trains are to go from St Albans City Station, more trains will stop at Luton Airport Parkway station and the City Thameslink station is to open on Saturdays.

Meanwhile, some commuter services are to be altered and re-timed "to improve reliability and punctuality," according to the company. Some of these changes include:

*The 9.15am and 9.45am Bedford to Blackfriars trains will call additionally at St Albans at 9.41am and 10.11am respectively.

*The 9.30am, 10.15am, 10.45am and 11.15am Bedford to Moorgate trains will also now call at St Albans at 9.56am, 10.41am, 11.11am and 11.41am respectively.

*The 7.20am Bedford to Moorgate train will now be diverted to call at City Thameslink at 8.14am and will terminate at Blackfriars at 8.19am.

*The current Wivelsfield call in the 5.12pm Bedford to Brighton service will be withdrawn and replaced by an additional call at 7.25pm by the 6.40pm London Bridge to Brighton train.

*The City Thameslink station will open for the first time on Saturdays on a trial basis from 9am to 9pm from October 6 until June 1 next year.
