Stormy weather effected households across Croydon this week when strong winds downed trees and torrential rain caused flash floods.

As our picture shows, one unlucky resident of Ross Road, Upper Norwood, found their car beneath an uprooted tree.

In Woodside there were reports of firefighters being called to bail out flooded areas when storm drains which were overwhelmed by the long downpour.

Croydon Council press office said that the flooding was caused by the large amount of debris blown from trees obstructing the drains.

The council has called on residents of areas at risk of flooding to clear any materials they see that may block the flow of the water.
