SINCE its first edition, published on January 27, 1783, The Herald has traded under a number of different titles. But the paper’s mission has not changed since its first Editor John Mennons promised to report on “subjects so interesting to the nation in general, and to Glasgow in particular”.
With 225th years of publishing, we celebrate more than two centuries of front-page news in a series of magazines which reveal the changing face of Scotland and the world as captured by The Herald’s writers and photographers.
From its origins as The Glasgow Advertiser to its current newspaper, digital and web editions, The Herald has seen and recorded history in the making and hopes to continue doing so for another 225 years.
